Description
Consecration gift from the temple of the goddess Bastet in Bubastis. The bronze is heavily patinated. The statue was acquired with ministerial approval of 11 March 1902 in exchange for another Egyptian bronze and additional payment from the collection of the Royal Museums, Berlin.
Provenance
acquired by Ginsberg in 1904 from the State Museum in Cairo; 1904 -1942 Ostasiatica Collection Herbert Ginsberg, Berlin; in 1942 large parts of the Ginsberg collection were confiscated by the Sicherheitsdienst (SD) in Rotterdam; whereabouts unknown
