MOSAIC PANEL INVENTORY INFORMATION

    The middle of the mosaic panel titled "Zodiac Belt", which was unearthed as a result of the drilling excavation in the privately owned parcel of 230 sheet, 846 island, e.13 Y.2, located within the scope of the Conservation Plan for Development and in the 1st degree protected area of ​​Mollagürani Neighborhood, Osmangazi District, Bursa Province, was removed and stolen.

   

            In the floor mosaic titled "Zodiac Belt" dated to the 3rd-4th century AD, Mithras (young man) in the middle is equated with the sun god Helios, is known as the god of soldiers and armies and is usually depicted in human form. Mithras' head here is surrounded by a halo made of dark blue stones, he has a crown on his head and his hair falls to his shoulders in curls. His head is slightly turned to the left. There is a water wave motif made of green, red and white stones around it. After this section, there is the Zodiac Belt with the depictions of 12 signs and depictions of the seasons in the four corners of this belt. There are figures symbolizing winter and summer, while the figures related to spring and autumn have been destroyed. There are motifs of meander, heart-shaped ivy and antrolak in the border around the panel, and partridge, rooster, etc. animals and pomegranate and olive branch motifs in the east and west sections.

        The circle in which the portrait is located is 0.90 m in diameter, and it was understood that this section was dug to a depth of 0.45 m and removed from its place, measuring 0.75 x 1.20 m.
